Three things: Ambiance, food and service. Everything deserved a five, and I'm not exaggerating. One of the best times I've had eating out in Bangalore.
The ambiance- this place is owned by the same people who have Ebony and the 13th Floor on the same floor of Barton Centre. They've made very good use of the gorgeous view that one has from the 13th floor, and it feels like you're far way from the city but still manage to get a beautiful view. At night, it can get windy, and the place is dimly lit and romantic. The seating is limited so make sure you have a reservation.
As for the food, we were left feeling completely satiated. We order green papaya salad to start, which we enjoyed so much that we ordered two more portions. We also had the very satisfying meze platter. Everyone around had a portion of tom yum soup (the best I've ever had, which is saying something! Their paste is their own recipe, very authentic), which was followed by the stunning main courses.
Around the table were various dishes which we all ordered and shared. I had a bowl of Burmese Khau Suey, which was rich and thick and filling. We also sampled a 'jala' roti which was a thin, crepe-like roti that one dipped in a thick, stew like gravy and ate; a Vietnamese fish dish cooked in a spicy broth, which was unlike anything anyone had tasted (and quite delicious). This left us quite full, and we split a new york baked cheesecake with a sort of crumble on the side; again, spectacular.
Service was very good, just the type to complement the food and the ambiance. Unhurried but not too slow, they gave us enough time between dishes to recover. Very polite and knowledgable about what was being served, and the best part was that they didn't hover.
Basically, a must visit, with reasonable prices for the quality of food offered!
Firstly the most obvious part of this restuarant is its location, it at the top of the Barton center looking north. Its a nice location, try and go when its not dark yet and you get great view over the city. The seating is also clevery arange so there are three types, sofas near the wall, normal tables against the balacony wall and some single bar stools right up against the balcony wall, however they have put some glass to stop you or your food falling off. Good selection of seating for all tastes.
The menu that comes is a little confused as it seems to try to be so many things at once, which is a shame since I believe the same kitchen is used for all three restuarants at the top of the barton center they could have tried to be more focused in my opinion. I came along wanting some mediterrenean cusine and there is a decent selection but not that much. I like meze so I chose to have both the hot meze and the cold meze. One consists of particular dishes and the cold is basically bread and dips. The food was very good, its seemed authetic enough and was indianified much at all the only thing was the red peper dip was way too spicy to be called authetic. The babaganoush was the best dip extremely good and tasteful. definately freshly prepared. The breads were good again they were fresh out the oven.
The service was good and the manager was very freindly. Questions were answered well about dish sizes and what they contained.
All in all I would have liked it even more if there were more med dishes on the menu. There seemed to be some greek dishes with beef which is not used at all in greece really and there was no pork, which is a staple meat for greeks so that was a little disapointing. However a great experince and confortable stylist ambience. If they get more med/greek dishes on the menu they may well have nailed it!
Located on the 13th floor of the Barton Center on M.G.Road this place has its plus points.
Its a place for couples just because of its location. Its beautiful...you get the view of beautiful Bangalore city and if the weather is on your side ur in for a treat.
The staff is really friendly and overall service is good.
We went in for the Thai cuisine cuz that was my 'date's' favorite cuisine.
The food came in in large quantity. And just for the two of us it was plenty.
The beef starter was delicious but a little spicy for my taste but it was delicious never the less.
In the main course we ordered the noodles and it was a little on the dry side and i honestly dint like them much.
But i would just wanna go to the place again for the beautiful ambiance and the lovely company i shared that night.
It was beautiful and hence extra marks for the restaurant ;)
Love this place on the 13th floor Barton Center. Its been mine and my gf's favourite for a couple of years now. If we cant decide where to go for dinner, we end up here and prefer sitting in the corner overlooking the entire stretch of MG Road and the metro train making several trips.
Music is good, staff is attentive though you are tucked away in a corner.
Thai curry and rice has been a regular order along with some starters. Quantity is just enough, it wont fill you up. They have a couple of drinks and cocktails on their menu. Fortunately we have always got the same place without having to make reservations on a weekend but I'd advice you give them a call during the day to check.
If its Diwali time in the city and you'd like to watch fireworks while having dinner, then get here!
Lovely ambiance, definitely worth a shot for a romantic date. The view is really nice, specially in the evenings and that's this place's USP.
Now, about the food - sadly there isn't much Mediterranean stuff on the menu. Decent South-East Asian options specially in main course, mostly the regular street food favorites (e.g. Khow Suey, Laksa, etc.) Nothing fancy or unusual on offer.
The service is warm and friendly, the waiters know their stuff and are helpful if you need assistance while ordering. The food is hearty, tasty, made with fresh ingredients. The portion sizes are good and the pricing is decent as well.
Only gripe - avoid the desserts, specially the baked cheesecake.
