User Reviews for Chocodate
Seeking a blissful cappuccino on a very long & tiring day last week, we (me and three other friends of mine) firmed to go for NYPFC in sector 36 where from we were disappointed on its unavailability.
Our strong desire and less time to waste on deciding a new place, we chose juxtapositioned Chocodate thinking it to be a chance for amending my previous experience here, I was gained in. Off... it was a blunder again!!
Though we were cordially greeted by the doorman, the preparations were not good at all!! We perched the table for four at the ground level, and quickly ordered for one cappuccino, chicken and mushroom chowder (1 in 2) and a veg gumbo soup, a vegetable barbecue peri peri in multi grain bread, a penne alfredo and a garlic bread which cheese!!
I distinctly remember it was last Thursday wherein me and one of my friends are strictly vegetarian and hence commanded for more veg options.
The dishes arrived in a while by when I gazed the interiors which seemed to have improved since my last visit here. I loved the wooden carved lady on a bicycle delivering newspapers strategically hanging on the left wall rendering a beautiful look to the outlet!! The boulangerie section was spic and span with covered transparent bread baskets loaded with delectable products!!
The bites arrived and being empty stomached, we pounced on them. The presentations of all the dishes was superbly redone and they were much appealing than before!! This augmented our keenness way beyond!!
I took the first sip of the veg gumbo soup and it was below expectations with a burnt garlic flavor, vegetables mirepoix floating and weirdly seasoned. After a while, I was shocked to find many pieces of chicken in the soup and felt cheated and un-cared for!! This kind of mistake is absolutely unexpected and inexcusable particularly when one is dining at a reputed outlet like Chocodate and not any street side dhabha which in turn take more care of their guest in my opinion. Upon expressing resentment over this, I felt unheard for by the person at the cashier who appeared to be the owner ( I am not sure) as if it was not a big deal and is usual an affair for them!!
I actually took the bowl and left it at the counter following which taking his sweet time the chef came and apologized stating its okay for him since I am not a strict vegetarian. I couldn't take this and have firmed up my decision for not recommending this outlet to anyone and never even thinking to revisit it!! Totally irresponsible gesture!! This behavior in hospitality industry was an absolute annoyance and I regretted to have come here!!
Coming onto the sandwich, there was no salt in it and contained big slice of tomato in the name of vegetables!! Bad!! Tasteless!! Pasta was dis-tasty being too floury with no cheese!! The garlic bread was untoasted with clogged cheese, again bad!! To close our supper, we fearfully ordered for a chocolate truffle pastry which was the only good thing in the entire experience!!
My advice is: CAREFULLY WATCH WHAT YOU ARE GETTING AS YOUR ORDERED DISH!! THERE MIGHT BE A DISCREPANCY DEVASTATING YOUR SOJOURN HERE!! Food: 2/10; Service: 5/10, Staff: 2/10!!
One of my friends suggested yesterday that lets go to Chocodate for a quick bite. I seriously didn't know where this outlet was. So i had my own apprehensions but once a call is placed, it’s placed. We three of us gathered at Chocodate.
Beautifully done interiors, I would say. I mean seriously that’s the way café’s should be designed. It gives an English outlook with good mix of white and copper colors. The moment you walk in, you walk alongside an array of shelves loaded with bakery stuff and when you reach up to the counter there is a huge display fridge fully loaded with dry cakes and patisseries. I assure you, you wouldn't waste much of your time in ordering your food after having optical of all this.
We were warmly greeted by the head chef Rajesh, a gentleman having immense knowledge about food and related industry. When you get a chance to have food at Chocodate, do try to strike a conversation with him. He will explain you depths of various cuisines. One thing I loved about this outlet absolutely was their sitting arrangement. The couches in the dining area in the basement are extremely comfortable. The music could have been a little better. The menu is extensive and you should ask the chef if you have any confusion. We loved our wraps, sandwiches and pastas. The quality of food was impeccable and presentation was a level above. Everything we ordered was full of flavors, had right amount of zing, and above all looked so delicious. Coming to the dessert section, their cheesecake is a must try. I guarantee you it will be very different and tasteful than what you might have tried so far.
The service part is nice as well. In short, they are helpful and alert. They don’t bother you unnecessarily which you might have observed in some places that servers keep coming to you to do up-selling as their management asks them to do so.
Overall, I had a beautiful experience, and thank you chef for giving us great suggestion in our choice of food.

After having a lot of mouth recommendation of chocodate and of course a newly opened bakery in sec 36 i went to try some of baked products as having lack of time and a busy evening just took away a grilled vegetable sandwich and velvet cup cake which was nicely decorated with butter cream but did not like both of them
I was attracted by the decorated cakes and other pastries including puffs danish croissant
Next time i went again to have coffee with my friend and again could not eat again as lack of time again but had a nice interaction with Chef there and was impressed by making of cake that they use marzipan(authentic) and he suggested to have cupcakes warm then they taste better
I would like to visit again with amp[le of time so that can try other products also
And one of best attraction , ohh how can i forget that, Their french macaroons varieties of different color and flavors , only here i found in chandigarh
Ambiance is great would visit it again surely
After visiting Chocodate, I just can’t miss broadcasting this simple message, “If you are heading out to eat in less busy streets unlike sector-26 and 35, let your good karma bones guide you to the door of Chocodate, who have great menu with excellent interiors to make sure that you have immaculate dining experience
Chocodate is really a treasure among some great food joints in Chandigarh. From the outside itself, one will get a good feeling and once you are in, the joint picks up its pace in assuring that you are in for a quality food. The ambience at Chocodate is very English and is decked out with English white and shades of copper/wood which brings a great energy and warmth to the venue. Chocodate has sitting arrangement in two parts, ground floor and basement. The basement has comfortable couches and beautifully decked up tables for dinning and the display of bakery products here (at the ground floor) sure is a stunning sight and they don’t disappoint.
For me, a good menu falls in two categories, either highly specialized or very generalized. The specialized menus are generally the ones that include minimum dishes but whatever is included has a critical yardstick to it where as when we look at generalized menus, they are comprehensive and made to suit the taste buds of larger segment of foodies. Having said that it doesn’t mean the dishes included in generalized menus have no measures to it, the only difference is when it comes to start rating the dishes, just measure them from the taste point of view more. I hope Chocodate stands with me in saying that their menu is comprehensive and I am sure satisfying such big menus from all perspectives must be a substantial task for them every day.
On a Sunday afternoon, I, with my friends, tried their salads, wraps, sandwiches, and spaghetti meatballs. The portions were really good and it is value for money especially if you are craving for some English food in Chandigarh. Everything we ordered was rich in flavour, well cooked, fresh, and the accompaniments served alongside were giving a very modern twist complemented the dishes very well. But the winner of our time there was their bakery products. From tarts to cakes, everything is so delicious that it almost just melts in your mouth. Our heads keep turning to bakery products displayed in the fridges and at that moment we were convinced that we would come back to this place again for more.
Let’s get to the service part now. The servers do not interrupt much and the good part is that they are not encouraged to do any up-selling. As I mentioned above that their menu is large but the staff understands it well. We did get a chance to speak to the head chef; I believe his name is Rajesh. A well travelled guy who has worked in hospitality around the globe know job extremely well. He imparted knowledge about the intricacies of different cuisines and how they are served differently in different parts of the world. I am sure his special skill set will let this joint do very well in the competitive environment of Chandigarh.
Finally, my recommendations are full on for trying their entire menu. All you got to do is to let the chef know before-hand that how would you like your flavour to be unless you have random critical analysis in mind. As our measure was just the taste and we kept no pre notion about the dishes as in their proximity to authenticity, we came out extremely-power-2 satisfied.
