Visited MC very recently with my colleagues, was very much impressed with their ambience than their food. The place was well lit with soothing chinese music playing at the background ,from the ceiling to the statues placed , added with the number of foreigners mostly chinese gave us a feel that we entered into a restaurant in china.
The manager was very prompt in receiving us and we were served starters and soup on our table,i liked the veg soup served to me ,my nonveg friends seemed to love their chicken soup.
We went on a weekday, so the starters count was very minimal
Chicken Lollypop and Chicken DIMSUM
Potato fry(noodles kinda),veg roll, veg dimsum and mixed vegetable
My friends seemed to love all their non-veg starters as they had gone for atleast 6 servings of both,I personally liked all the veg starters except the mixed vegetable which was too oily.-10/10 for the starters
We had veg noodles, veg hakka noodles,Tossed up vegetable in chinese sause,Stir fry vegetables and papad kinda(looked like noodles)and Shangai spring roll,
We had egg fried rice, chicken hakka noodles, chicken pepper lollypop, prawn papad, and gravies of chicken, shrimp, fish and crab.
I Personally didn't like any of the veg main courses as i'm not a grt fan of chinese cuisine ,but my friends seemed to like few dishes in nonveg like chicken pepper lollypop and chicken gravy.-6/10 for the spread
Not a great spread but can't complain though ,we had coconut balls, honey fried noodles, cake with various dips which i'm allergic too in any buffet spread and cut fruits
We were four and for two veg and two nonveg platter they charged 1250/- with taxes which i think is nominal for the service and for the ambience
Strictly for Chinese Food lovers :):):):):):)....And if you are a herbivore and don't like chinese ,Stop with starters and move directly to desserts :P
I had been to mainland china for buffet dinner. I must say that their ambiance was really nice. Even the service was really good. Being opted for buffet, we had our soup and starters served on our table. I must say, i loved their chicken dumplings, chicken lollipop, and crispy potato fry. Even the soup was well flavored and refreshing. Coming to the main course, i loved the noodles and fried rice was good. They had also served crab, chicken, and fish dishes which were good. I was not very fancied by wantons though. Talking about desserts, I was not very happy with the spread, as they served honey fried noodles with ice cream, had one variety of pastry, and fruits. I had expected more for what i had paid.
I would recommend this place for Chinese food lovers.
I would rate this place as:
Value for money: 3.5/5
With a pang for Chinese cuisine, almost to be termed a rage, I step into this magnificent place. Obviously the preparation of the food has been tweaked to appease the Indian tongues, but still the moderation has been maintained. They have generically classified their items which is a bit humiliating to the Chinese cuisine and its variety; but who is complaining as long as the food is splendid?
Three of us opt for the buffet with an eagerness that could be matched to our ravenous appetites at the moment. With a quick glance over to the main courses, I already decided that I was going to have a gala of a time that night.
The ambience at this branch is beautiful. The place is simply vast and adorned entirely; from the glass walls to the ceilings, everything has been tweaked with a subtle touch of artistic display that does not jar your senses. The statues of bronze(?) that are placed like sentries inside the restaurant adds to the splendor. The tables are a bit uncomfortable though. You have to lean in too much towards the table from your seat. Try pulling the table towards you and the person opposite to you will find it difficult. Something went wrong here for sure.
Coming to the essential aspect of food, the starters consisted of Chicken Lollypops, Dumplings, Vegetarian Spring Rolls, Stir Fry Vegetables and an item or two more. To be frank, the Lollypops were as you get them anywhere else. The Stir Fry Vegetables were an absolute wonder I tell you. The preparation doesn't reek of any sauce, but is perfectly crafted with ample doses of vegetables soft enough to melt in your mouth. Spring Rolls were tiny bullet sized pieces which were a bit too oily for my liking, but good nonetheless. Ultimate super star of the starters gang was the Chicken Dumpling. Couple it with the Chilli Sauce they serve and you have arrived into an abode of severe content; jubilation if I can term it.
Main course consisted of Egg Fried Rice, Noodles, Shrimp, Fish, Chilli Chicken and Crab. Yes, all these dishes for the buffet. Blew my mind to see all this available and how! The taste of each dish was magnificent. I had absolutely no complaints whatsoever about any dish. The shrimp was delightful, and so was the fish. Chilli Chicken, which I thought was normal fare, also blew my socks off, as it was ridiculously good. The Fried Rice gelled wonderfully with any gravy you chose, for it was sullenly boiled with the lightest of spices & vegetables, and pepper added graciously supplementing its brilliance.
Desserts were an absolute disappointment. Two flavours of Ice cream, heavily crystallized, that too Vanilla and Strawberry, a disastrous artificial chocolate sauce, and those little fried bits like wantons consisted the range here. I am not saying they should provide a hundred varieties, but at least some variety and standard should do good. This is plain pathetic.
Dwelling on the service part, I should say that the initial service was wonderful. Then as time passed, the starters stopped. Repeated requests, to 7 different people to be precise, for the dumplings and it warranted none for literally 40 minutes. I ended up making jokes about them not serving us and my friend was thoroughly angered, which she displayed with gusts of frustration towards the 5th and 6th waiter we requested for the same. Then it arrived, finally, by when we had lost the interest towards the food. Wrapping that up, our appetites were diminished and we transpired to the other courses that ended significantly quick.
Rates are delightfully moderate. Two thumbs up for the quality and rates coupling each other. The Chefs are absolute genuises, while the management not so.
Mainland China, especially this branch, is spectacular in (almost) all aspects and on all levels. No wonder the restaurant was utterly crowded on a Tuesday night. Cheers to the glorious food.
Centrally located and living up to its name, this place provides one truly Chinese experience. I had been there for my office team dinner, obviously for the dinner buffet. At such reasonable prices, they provide a wide variety.
The momos/dumplings were amazing. The sour/spicy sauce was just perfect on the side! The other starters were also yummy. The main course had the appropriate amount of dishes. The flavour was just perfect and everything was perfectly done. Not too over steamed, not too less. Just the perfect amount!
The desserts were also pretty I loved the dar saan and the kiwi sauce on the ice cream in particular.
Further, the entry gives the grand Oriental touch. The dragon handle bars, the two majestic lions and the three super majestic Oriental figures!
Awesome ambience, authentic Chinese cuisine, good service and the buffets especially are very good value for money!
Xinghui, Mainland China! :-)
We (me and my husband) wanted to have Chinese and settled for Mainland china,T nagar,(what better place than it for that authentic Chinese cuisine) .We opted for the buffet and we were first served a Mock-tail and starters at the table. We had the veg 8 treasure soup.We liked the starters very much, especially dimsums. Though the options for vegetarian main course was less,(they can add some more rice varieties) it was compensated by a comparatively wider range of non-veg courses. I tried almost all the non-veg starters and kept on raving about them as I had. The desserts were good too even with a full stomach, we managed to have a bite of nearly all the desserts.
Ambiance- Excellent(Fine dining)
Average meal for two- 2000 INR
Buffet lunch- Around 600 INR per person..Less options in main course!!
