User Reviews for Punjabi Tadka
A month back, on August, I had ordered home delivery for some item from this restaurant. I know it is not ethical or prudent to write a review on dine-in restaurant based on the experience of home delivery, but still doing it for other foodies' sake. I would, thus, knowingly refrain from commenting anything other than their food and delivery service.
We ordered Chicken tangdi kabab, chicken rashmi kabab as starters and chicken mughlai along with some rotis. The delivery came within 40 minutes.
Overall impression on food is: the price seemed to be on the lower side (for this restaurant) and it impacted the quality somehow. Tangdi kabab had dripping oil, and somehow the oil and spices mixture did not taste good. Reshmi kabab was good in taste, but pieces were very small. Chicken mughlai was decent enough.
I would not very strongly recommend this place as a foodies' destination, but if someone is looking for economical option for dine-in, this is a place worth visiting at least once.
Punjabi Tadka is one of the most economical restaurants around Kondapur. You can get the real Punjabi flavor here at very economical prices. I often visit this place as am staying close by for dinner. The Parathas, rotis and gravies are excellent here. The typical famous punjabi dishes like chicken tikka masala, egg tadka, chana masala etc are good in taste. You get various types of parathas for 25-35 bucks. If you want to have good food and keep it light on your pocket, this place is a must go !
Food - 6.5/10
Ambiance - 5/10
Service - 6/10
Price - 8/10
Well, we live just behind Punjabi tadka so have visited this place multiple times! If I have to sum up this restaurant in one sentence then it would be " Homely food at super economical prices" I sometimes wonder how they are able to operate profitably with such price points!!!
All the Roti/Paratha & Punjabi gravy items are very tasty & would highly recommend them, however will not recommend much of their starters or chinese items! (Having said that their chicken fried rice is shockingly cheap! )
Ambience wise its almost a nothing-place! Service can be at times very painful mainly because of the over-crowding.
Value For Money: 9/10
Food: 7.5/10 (Rotis/Parathas/Gravies)
Update: Sadly, the quality of food has gone down off late. The consistency has become a big question mark! The same dish tasted completely different on different occasions!!! I hope they set things straight! As of now reducing rating from 3.5 to 3.
We went to this place after much deliberation. My wife wanted to go to US Pizza. I wanted to go to the other punjabi place below this one. We finally ended up here.
We ordered the following
Veg Platter - The portions were amazingly HUGE!!! cost was ridiculously cheap (190 for 6 starters). Taste was amazing.
Lassi - The lassi was warm and the waiter said that's how they serve lassi (I doubt that though)
Aloo Paratha - very large but not enough stuffing
Gobi Paratha - excellent
Egg Paratha - interesting. I've never had egg paratha that tasted like this before.
Mushroom Masala - was very very good!!!!
Overall. The food was amazing.
Ambience : This place was new so the ambience left a lot to be desired. It almost resembled an irani chai joint. The waiters looked overworked (dinner time at 8 PM). The tables were dirty even after cleaning. Service was poor to say the least and the head waiter did not even know the food that we ordered was in the menu (veg platter). so overall, this was disappointing.
If you want to go here, go to eat and not to enjoy a meal in peace. I am torn between coming back again for the food vs tolerating the service for over a month. I still haven't decided. If they had home delivery in my area, I would take it for sure.
Food - 4/5
Service - 1/5
Ambience - 2/5
Cleanliness - 2/5
Let me start with value for money. Food is good, well flavoured and vibrant. Parathas are really good. Portions are standard, nothing to complain about. Dal makhani is a must try. Oh, and the lassi as well.
This is a proper no fuss, only food place. The butter chicken is as good as any restaurant, at a price that makes you smile.
Parathas are homely and hearty. Two parathas and you'll be stuffed. Again, very economically priced.
Pulao is well seasoned and portions are generous.
This is definitely the place to eat if you want a well cooked, simple, well flavoured honest meal, with no fuss and feathers about it.
