User Reviews for Mango People
Food for the "Aam Admi" is the specified target of Mango People and they quite live up to that. Over the various times I have dined there have seen a wonderful cross-section of the city ..... and no doubt its great value for money. The food itself is tasty , well prepared and service is good. I am happy to notice that its still as spotless as it was when it opened. Having home delivery is also great because when your in a lazy mood you can still enjoy the food. Our last visit we decided to try the Minced Mutton Potato Chop , Pork Spare Ribs , Ginger Garlic Pork and Parathas. I will start with the Mutton Chop which was a big disappointment .... the mutton though good to taste was quite chewy and tough and the " soft buttery mashed potato it was supposed to be engulfed in was barely there .... the crumb coating was too thick and it was over fried .... so not enjoyable at all. I request the management to look into it and take suitable corrective measures. The rest of our meal was excellent .... the Ginger Garlic Pork was yummy and the Chef was kind enough to make it with less chilies for me ... it paired beautifully with the soft flaky paratha and was very enjoyable. The Pork Spare Ribs were superb .... excellent in taste and presentation ( pictured below). The Chef is wonderful and always takes extra care with our food comes personally and asks how it was and is always open to suggestions. We had the Gandharaj Lemonade which was fresh and nice similar to a virgin mojito and washed all the food down perfectly. Over-all would have given a rating of 3.5 but it deserves a 4 for the lovely pork spare -ribs !
I heard about ‘Mango People’ from my friends and decided to go there with my family. It’s a low priced restaurant serving decent food to "aam insaan"s like me. The place is spotless, the kitchen clean and it’s nice to watch your food being prepared in the open kitchen. Since I knew what to order thanks to my fellow foodies I preferred not to wait and straight away ordered ‘Club Sandwich’ and ‘Spare Ribs (Pork)’ for myself and ‘Blue Virgin’ mocktails for others. While we were waiting for our food to be served, a bowl of potato wafers was given, which though a simple gesture, made me very happy as I love to have something to munch on while waiting for the food. Then came the food, the ribs were done perfectly and were served with a good BBQ sauce. It just melt-in-your-mouth tender and the sauce complemented the fatty meat perfectly. It tastes so delicious my wife first took a bite from me and then took half of the ‘Spare Ribs’. The ‘Club Sandwich’ also very very tasty. Four triple decked sandwich filled with ham, chicken, egg, tomato, cheese tasted yummy. Then in main course we ordered ‘Chicken Fried Rice’, ‘Mixed Fried Rice’, ‘Chicken Hakka Chowmin’, ‘Mutton Keema’ and ‘Parathas’. All the dishes are very testy except ‘Hakka Chow’. Anyway very affordable pricing along with good food, nice and refreshing ambiance.
ever since i discovered mango people i was completely smitten by their innovative name and more with their amaaazing juicy pork ribs costing 200 bucks!! omggg!! me and my friend went there on and off at least 5-6 times in a row for just those! we also tried their crispy babycorn and lovely french fries and loved them all. jump to a month back - i went on my mom's b'day to pick up some food and went aaaaaaaa on seeing all the prices being almost doubled!! :'( hayyyee my lovely ribs *sob sob*.. but anyway neither has the quality of food been increased nor quantity and though the new ribs now are accompanied by mashed potato and garlic bread really we did not want these! the space is very congested and they do not serve any drinking water either :-/ what has happened to every restaurant i wonder -_- added to all of this is that they have a very limited food menu and almost zero dessert menu and have now started applying taxes too.. very disappointed and is quite likely won't go back!
The food is actually not freshly-cooked, but taken from the fridge and heated. In fact, even parathas are actually from frozen packets bought from a supermarket. Since they charge really high prices, it is not worth eating in this restaurant.
The food tastes stale and has a bad smell too!
They do not even have a washroom, and direct customers to a small dingy toilet inside the lane beside the restaurant!
I have also noticed that as soon as a negative review is posted, immediately a couple of new accounts are created and they post 4-star reviews. These new accounts will not have other reviews later. This makes me doubt these new accounts which give high ratings to this restaurant!
I was extremely amazed by the name of the restaurant and hence the visit. The mango people was meant for 'aam janta'. 'WAS' because recently they have increased their rates. However the food is decent and the servers are polite. The variety of food is nothing new. However the left corner seats of this restaurant is extremely comfortable and provides beautiful view of the road along with privacy!
