The ambience here is really nice...good for hanging out with pals especially if you wanna be away from the always crowded food court. Do try out the Chicken Seekh kebabs and tikkas. I found the hot cheesy logs to be a little bland. The rich chocolate pastry is a must-have. Overall a good experience :)
If you want to get away from the bewildering crowds at the food court in the mall, look for the somewhat nondescript facade of this eatery between the Crossword and the exit from the multiplex in the far corner. I don't know how long this restaurant has been around, but I just happened to walk in. The menus are on Ipads (a gimmick, because when you select your dishes and click on place order, a waiter will walk up to your table to confirm what you just asked for. Ludicrous). The sizzler is good but it is a substantial helping, so you might want to rethink ordering one for just yourself. In my second visit I asked for a pizza which turned out to be just right. The toppings were stock but I quite liked the flavour. My friends asked for an arrabiata pasta which they said was excellent.
The ambience is good. Both times I visited was on a Sunday afternoon and I did not have to wait to be seated. The drinks are ok, although for a place that calls itself a brewing company I expected a few more, let's say, exotic brands of beer in the menu. Also, I don't know if it is possible, but if they add two or three more big screens, it'd make a decent sports bar.
Overall, a nice experience. Prices are high but not exorbitant given the location. Would like to see an expanded menu.
Goregaon really needed a neat and sophisticated place like this. As the name suggests this joint has designs and artifacts reminding the British pub culture. You may sit on long wooden stools or in one of the barrel shaped seating arrangement. Even more impressive is the fact that their food is quite better, as compared to some other restaurants in Oberoi mall and comes in large portions.
They distribute ipads on which you can order which is a little incongruous. Ipads are quite American. I mean, I won't mind reading through a spiral bound menu written in victorian english. The service was prompt although the staff looked a little bored(maybe because they don't get a lot of work).
Try their burgers or pizzas. Nachos were passable and so were some of the indian dishes. Pasta was ordinary too. They have a long list of beer and I'd recommend something you have not tried before.
In a nutshell, if you're traipsing in Oberoi mall this place is definitely worth trying.
Bon Appetit!! :)
A Saturday night outing with hubby, brother-in-law and sister-in-law was long overdue. Such things always work out better when unplanned, and this was no exception.
We, the ladies, reached there first from work, at around 8pm. We would have preferred the beer barrel seating, but that is reserved for bigger groups, I suppose, so we were given a table for 4 with slightly high chairs. Quite comfortable. As we waited for the men, it gave us time to check out the decor while sipping our nice Fresh Lime Sodas. The place is not too large, and the central bar gets quite crowded later at night. Beer barrels looked great for big groups, but the other seating is much better if you want to soak in the atmosphere. High ceiling, perfect lighting, great music, large screens and some references like Strawberry and cream and Notting Hill on the posters completed the perfect English ambience for chilling out.
The ordering is through IPads, which I thought was quite fun. As soon as you finalise the order, a staff member comes and checks with you to confirm the order, and it is at your table in a matter of minutes! Full marks for the lightning-quick service even on a Saturday full house. The staff and the manager were attentive, courteous and helpful. One place where the service charge is well worth it.
Coming to the food and drinks, this place rocks! They have something for everybody with a range of starters, Tandoori, English menu, burgers, pizzas, pastas, curries, rice, noodles, salads, soups and desserts. Here's what I thought -
Beer - They were having some offer of buy 3 get 1 free on Heineken pints. I can't judge, since I don't fancy beer much. But the men were hooked.
Ginger Ale - It was off-the-menu, but my sis-in-law knew they serve it. It was quite good!
Sangria - The rose wine, brandy and juice concoction was perfectly done! Recommended!
French fries - Crispy with delicious dips.
Chana masala - Surprise package, so delicious, it was over before we knew it.
Mashed potatoes - The absolute best I have had. Perfectly blended with butter and other stuff, this one was a winner. Never thought I would rave about mashed potatoes one day!
Cheese Corn Balls - Quite ordinary. Can be avoided.
Chicken Bruschetta - Nice, but could have done with more chicken.
Non-veg platter - This one had Chicken Cigar Rolls (nice), Karaage Chicken with Wasabi Mayo (which tasted like regular mayo, the chicken though was good) and Fiery Chicken Lollypops (reliable with Schezwan sauce as usual).
Chicken Skewers - They were presented so fantastically, we didn't feel like disturbing the assembly of the skewers, vegetables and fries. Tasted as great as they looked!
Chef's Veg Pizza - I don't know what it is supposed to be like originally, but we got it basically made to our liking with Bell peppers, onions, jalapenos and olives. Superbly made, it tasted even better with the olive oil seasoning on the side.
The food was so good, we never got to the desserts, we were so full.
Apart from the Non-Veg platter, which I thought was a bit overpriced for the portions and taste, the rest of the stuff was real value for money.
Final verdict - Great conversations with dear ones over wonderful food with our favouite music in the background, BBC made our evening perfect. Loved it, loved it, absolutely loved it!
I first went to British Brewing Company, when it had just opened. Going by the name I thought it to be a microbrewery and was a bit disappointed to know that it was just a pub. We, however, had an enjoyable experience there and have returned many times since.
The ambiance there is good and the barrel shaped booths look interesting. The drinks are well made. As far as food is concerned, we have only tried the starters and pizzas; having pizzas there is recommended....they are good and flavorful with a crisp base.
The place is usually crowded owing to the fact that it is the best pub in the locality and 'coz its easily accessible from the Western Highway making it extremely convenient for friends from different parts of the city to assemble.
