User Reviews for Hare Krishna Veg
Among the divine appellations used by restaurants, Krishna remains one of the most popular at Mumbai and this restaurant is one that has half the popular Hare Krishna chant as its name! HRHK as it is called used to be a popular restaurant till the work on the Mumbai Metro One made getting to the restaurant very difficult as the traffic outside was made chaotic and even the footpath used to get to the restaurant was dug up. However, the restaurant has its loyal clientele from offices nearby and continues to be popular and crowded. The restaurant is a two storied one with a non air conditioned ground floor and part of the upper floor (first floor) air conditioned. The service at the air conditioned section is slower!
This is a typical Mumbai Udipi restaurant and has a long menu and caters to popular taste! The food is made hygienically, is reasoanbly tasty and priced inexpensive! However, the restaurant uses food colours and some of their gravies and even rice dishes can be too colourful and unappealing! They serve fresh fruit juices too. The dal khichadi is made well (though they tend to go overboard on use of garlic) and is a good meal. Regular snacks are all made well though the sambar tends to be sweetish like is the custom at Mumbai. The waiters and the management are very customer friendly and helpful and have kept the restaurant humming and popular. A lot of the office goers in the vicinity treat the restaurant as home, for meals and snacks that is! Do go to HRHK for snacks or meals in the chaotic Anhderi Kurla Road after carefully manouevering your way through the work going on for the Mumbai Metro.
Hare Rama Hare Krishna!
It is your typical udipi restaurant offering homely meals.
Very hygienic place considering i have checked out the kitchen myself.
I work nearby, and almost all my breakfasts and lunches take place here.
Food: Tasty. Wholesome. South Indian and Even North Indian is quite good.
Service is fantastically fast-for dine in or parcel. The quickest one I have come across.
Value For Money: Totally.
Ambience: Very simple neatly laid out tables and chairs. Not much of a good ambience place.
Recommendation: Incase you want to experiment: Do try the Masala Pav with cheese it is an indian version of spicy veggies and pizza.
So I am a regular here and everyone including the servers and manager now know me and smile, even ask "how come so late today?" incase I am delayed in arriving. So I get a mom-wala homely feel from HRHK as me and my colleagues call it. It is located in the bylanes of Chakala where most corporate offices are situated. And this place is the place where most of the offices nearby order from or come to eat in considering the taste and value for money offered.
