User Reviews for Amici
This is not a restaurant review, it is a pizza review. We got the pizzas home delivered, so we have no idea about the ambiance and the service. The pizzas were delivered within 40-45 minutes, which is within their estimates, so all well there.
As per the pizzas, they are slightly more expensive than the Domino's and Pizza Hut ones, but all good pizzas are. We had ordered two vegetarian pizzas: Lebanese Pizza that came with roasted aubergine topping and a Starving Celebrity that came with almost everything on it.
Before I come to how they tasted, let me tell you, the menu is really extensive when it comes to pies. It takes 20 minutes just to read the menu and enjoy the sound of the ingredients in your ears.
The Lebanese Pizza was simple and good. There were little piles of roasted aubergine on the pizza slices, there wasn’t much else Lebanese about them. The crust was thin and the sides were charred as would happen in wood fired ovens.
The Starving Celebrity pizza was loaded with all sorts of toppings. We had opted for the Amici special crust. It was thin, we turned it over to see it had the right amount of burn marks too. Was it value for money? Yes. Will I order from them again? Of course.
The thing with Def Col market is that its fullll of eateries but is you were to find that "nice" place to eat the options would be very limited. The number of average / just another restaurants is much higher. Thankfully Amici has managed to be an exception. Out for a quick lunch I tried the Parma ham gourmet pizza with an Oreo Chocolate Shake. The ambiance is pleasant like Big Chill , the service is friendly and brisk too and the food is a sure winner. Parma ham is an acquired taste and did not go too well on a bed of mozzarella ( totally personal view) as it made for a very salty pizza. The shake was nice and thick and I slurped it all in one go. Overall the experience was pleasant and I'm quite certain I would be going there more often to try out the other stuff. All in all Amici is a "nice" place for any occasion which calls for Italian.
Is Amici worth a shot? Should you spend money on this place?
Short answer: YES.
Amici is an upcoming destination for amazing Italian food. After having walked past it quite a few times due to being slightly intimidated by their prices, a craving for thin crust pizzas and pasta led us inside this time.
And boy were we glad we did!
Located on the ground floor in Defence Colony Market, amici is easily accessible and a convenient place to meet people and enjoy some quality food.
Amici has a very cheery, upbeat ambience with highly polished furniture, mirrors, lighting and a chef's counter that give the place a very Italian-kitchen like effect. The overall effect is uplifting, and the seating was found to be adequate despite arriving around end-of office hours on a working day.
The staff at Amici is extremely polite and ready to help. The service is quick and effective, but this could also be attributed to the fact that we were only the 2nd group of customers in the place at that time.
The food was good. Following are the dishes we ordered: (see photos)
# Cream and Mushroom Pasta: (4/5)
Pros: Decent serving, well cooked, and overall delicious. The mushrooms used were of decent quality, and the sauce was cooked to perfection. The garlic bread was crisp and nicely toasted. Another quirky little (unintentional feature, we're sure) thing that we liked was the fact that the pieces of mushroom were hotter than the pasta, which made the dish multi-dimensional.
Cons: It could have very well done with some extra sauce. The pasta tasted dry at certain points in time due to lack of sauce, in fact sometimes, we had to really scrape to find some sauce for our garlic bread. Speaking of the bread, we wish it weren't quite so measly. They provided only one thin stick of bread, which was really not adequate to go with the dish. Further, the mushrooms were added only at the top of the dish, so as we dug deeper, the toppings disappeared.
# Broken Brownie Shake: (4.5/5)
Pros: ABSOLUTELY delicious. We took one sip and closed our eyes in delight. Rich, thick, well blended, very chocolatey, with excellent presentation. I applaud this dish and the choice we made to have it.
Cons: Since it was really thick, we recommend that it be served with a spoon instead of a straw. Also, bigger and more frequent chunks of brownie would've enabled us to give this dish a perfect score.
One dish and a drink cost us Rs. 660. We had to severely limit our dishes due to the expensive prices. We agree that though Defence Colony is not a location which can be expected to be cheap, the least amici can do is slightly expand their serving size to complement the price they're charging.
Thumbs up! We'd go back again, though this time to try out the pizzas maybe. Seeing the price, one cannot afford to repeat a less than perfect dish!
If you feel like having a drink AND a dessert, yet your pocket just can't allow it, we recommend buying a brownie/chocolate/oreo shake. It serves as a drink and leaves you as satisfied as a dessert would. Do try!

Heard a lot about this place before so finally gave it a shot! From the simple and elaborate Italian menu we decided to go for the Chilli Pizza(can't remember its full name) which served Tandoori Paneer, Onions, Mushrooms and Cheese!
The thin crust tasted good but not extra ordinary.
Also I went for a Dark Chocolate Oreo shake which was worth the shot.
With a slow service but welcoming staff I would like to go for a 3.5/5 for this place.
It is good in its own right!
Nevertheless a nice and comparatively inexpensive place for Italian supper :D
the pizza was definitely the bessstttt part of the evening. the foccacia sandwich was generous fresh n filling. among our deserts, brownie sundae was a let down wit no tiramisu available at 9pm on a Fri eve!! caramel cheesecake was okay. they do beer n wine so that's convenient wit the kind of food they serve.
