User Reviews for Set'z
I considered Set’z to be the best eating out experience in Delhi/NCR. Our family used to look forward to their weekend lunch buffet. Location, Ambience, Concept, Food and even Value were Top Notch!
Sadly, we were very disappointed during our last visit. Food quality, taste and presentation were average with food served at room temperature. Even the Margarita was doomed. The dim-sums and pasta are still good.
I would be surprised if this establishment has not seen some staff turnover in key positions. It used to be tough to get in without reservations and now one can see many empty tables. Safe to "condemn this one to the tourist trade".
Went there with my friends for the Sunday brunch. The first thing you notice is the classiness and the ambience of the pace address amazing, the various open kitchens add to that factor. Next the food there overall is good but the sushi and the drinks require a special mention as they were amazing with a lot of options. The staff there on occasion can be rude and slow.... but most of the date it's fine..... my 6 experiences with Set'z have been good if not amazing.
When I was deciding on a place for a Sunday brunch, the thought of exhaustive food spreads with multiple cuisines and senseless number of desserts made me cross most of my options. I was seeking for a place where I could satisfy highly different palets (Parents and me) at the same place without it getting crossed out from my reservations. I must say, it was great to have spent a lazy Sunday afternoon having brunch at Setz.
The place oozes classiness starting right from the location (Emporio), the uniforms of the hosts welcoming you, the décor and the ambience to the way the servers are trained. The open kitchen (ofcourse with a glass partition) made it all the more authentic. The lay out was great and was spread across three sides of the sitting area making everything easily accessible and nothing being too far from where you are sitting.
The choice of wines (Shiraz and Landen) was good and I specially enjoyed the red. The best salad to start with was their smoked chicken salad which was brilliantly made (melt in the mouth) with just the right amount of sauce. The prawn and chicken dimsums were beautiful as it had just the right thickness of the coating. And ofcourse, my favourite Sushi counter. The California and the maki rolls were very nicely done while the wasabi could have been a little more stronger in flavour. The Delhi Chuski was also present as a part of the dessert section but the best of the desserts were the chocolate puffs (Sort of eclairs with chocolate cream stuffed inside) and the caramel custard. I am not in for mixing highly different cuisines so with orienta and japanesel I try and stay out of the Indian cuisines.
The place did fall short at some places. The Gol gappas were out in the open. So naturally, all of them had become soggy and were tasting terrible. That is one thing which surely needs to be rectified. As the afternoon went by and the place got packed, the service got slow. Our orders took a lot of time to arrive and there was an instance where the server had actually forgotten that we had put an order for the gol gappas and a pizza. I would have loved to have some Malaysian Laksa or Vietnamese soup also being a part of the buffet for the price which I am paying.
I rate this place at 3.8 as I feel that there is still scope for improvement. Overall, the place is expensive (we ended up paying 8.5K for 3) but a must go if you want to enjoy some good healthy food with unlimited liquor once in a while. I am in for a round 2 to this place for their Sushis.
Spent a lovely day checking out the amazing stores at Emporio. All 3 floors...
Wish had tons of money to buy from every store, such amazing brands!
Had weekend buffet at Set'z, wish had a bigger tummy coz inspite of eating
many items in small quantity, still had so much to try but couldn't....
Had read good things about this place and it came out to be beyond expectations.
Very warm service, special care to my toddler was given, I was not hungry when
I entered, early noon and their buffet was already set, in an elegant and elaborate
manner, the place is spacious with innumerable servicing guys, attentive service,
awesome food, though steep but still if you are shopping & eating at Emporio you
are supposed to spend...
I checked out their menu but buffet is any day value for money compared to ala carte'
so opted for buffet, they didn't charge anything for whatever miniscule my toddler had.
In fact, noticing that my toddler isn't eating much, the server suggested pizza with
healthy toppings but unfortunately my kid didnt try even that.
As for me, inspite of not being hungry, ended up having pani puri, dimsums, kebabs,
biryani & little bit of accompanying gravies and some desserts. Their dimsums were
yumm and translucent, biryani light yet flavourful, desserts - huge array, was spoilt
for choice, oh how I wish I was hungrier and the visit was planned, would have
skipped dinner of previous nite or atleast breakfast, am surely visiting again to have
great job guys!!!
I have a firm belief that when an establishment serves more than one cuisine, it usually leads to having an average to bad food and Setz fell into the average category.
Went there with my wife for my birthday. The ambiance is really good and the selection of drinks is probably unrivaled in Delhi. The service is decent but waiters need to be more attentive. However, the food is really not all that great. We ended up choosing the Indian option and ordered Setz kabab (Galouti kababs) which were completely lacking in flavor, the ulte tawe ki roti was very good and aromatic. Then we ordered the dal makhani (very average) and murg lehsuni which was recommended to us but was not all that great.
This place seems to be made keeping the taste buds of foreigners in mind as the food is lacking in north indian spices. Everything we ordered was mild to bland and its not like I love spicy, khade masale type food either. But Indian food needs a proper flavor which this place failed to deliver.
But what the place is lacking in food makes up in ambiance and variety. This place can solve a lot of family dilemmas regarding which cuisine to dine out on.
