User Reviews for April Rain
The place has good ambience. Went there with my friend. Starters were nice. However, the tenderloin steak I ordered was a bit of a let down. It was too sweet for my taste. Soup was good and so was the service. Staff was very friendly. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Aundh. I went around 8 PM and no booking was necessary- that's a breather.
Heard a gr8 deal about the place and had want along with wife after a movie. The place is located on main road and has very minimal scones for parking. If you drive by a car you are left with bylanes. The place served us non veg buffet for around 425 inclusive of taxes. We found it a bit odd to have a buffet served in portions on our table but whatever the taste was being eagerly awaited. The lemon coriander soup was not too good but the starters which had fish amritsari and mutton gilaffi kabab were good. They also served some chicken starter in green sauce. The veg starters were just 2 in no and had baked potatoes n mushroom tossed in some oriental sauce. Just about o.k. The dal tadka was some varied taste and the best amongst main course. The main course had a chicken dish and 1 in mutton both very ordinary. The desert were the usual mouse cake and had cream with chocolate sauce. The exp was just ok, nothing great althoug we did like the ambience a bit. The place stocked differen types of liquor esp vodka! The service was very prompt, no complaints. Not like what we had in mind from the reviews!
"April Rain", what an interesting name! I would love to hear the story behind it and would definitely bug the owner on this question if I ever catch hold of him!
It's a 2 floor place in Aundh and its very mystical. I love how neatly the tables are arranged :) The menu is amaaaazing! Soooo many options! Unfortunately I wasn't drinking alcohol when I visited this place but I really want to try the interesting cocktail and shots offered. Seriously the menu tempts you to try at least one of the unique creations.
I have veg food and it was good. Although a lil on the greasier side (Why do you use so much BUTTTTEERRRR!) but great on the taste buds.
I would definitely visit April Rain sometime again and would love to get pampered again :)
This is a partially hidden place on the way to parihar chawk.
31 st July (13) night we entered to have a shower in April Rain.
Ambiance: Nicely decorated restaurant come bar. As newly opened a glossy and attractive looks is still present around.
Staff: helpful and humble.
We started with "Roasted Bell Piper and Smoked Tomato Soup" with Garlic toasted bread which is a nice appetiser tasty but was not very special.
In starter we ordered "Fresh Rice Crushed Fish Fingerttes with Tomato Tartare" and "Selator Chicken Wings on Fire with Sweet Bird Chilly Dip". Fish fingers were prepared with fresh and soft fish and was delivered with cute looking meo-glass. looks nice and tastes great. Chicken starter was little sweet with crispy touch, prepared with honey. Chicken was properly cooked and tender. I liked it.
In main course we ordered Chicken chettinar, Garlic Nan, Chicken biriyani and "Grilled Fish and Dried Basil on Home Made Mustard Court Bouilln". Chicken chettinar tasted very common and ordinary. I didn't find anything special about it. Biriyani was a complete loss. I would call it a mixture of rice and chicken gravy. From any angle it was not close to the trivial taste of indian or mughlai biriyani. We also ordered "Grilled Fish in Dried Basil on Home Made Mustard Court Bouilln" which was excellent. Fresh fish fillet was backed in mustard sauce was served with baked veg. It gives a nice continental feel only I was missing the rice in the dish.
Total cost: We paid Rs. 2030/- for 4 heads without alcohol which I should say good enough for a city like Pune.
Verdict: I feel this is not the place for typical Indian dishes, Try continental, Thai or Chinese dishes. Truly speaking those long and uncommon names which you will not be able to work out what it stands for, tastes better than dishes you usually know.
Come here to get drenched by April Rain
I read all these good reviews and went to April Rain with my team, with obvious hopes.
We had a buffet (which was served to our table, I know its weird, but some people were glad!) priced at 425/- per head + taxes.
Ambiance - 4/5
Staff - 4/5
Cost/Value for money - 3/5 or 2.5/5
Food - 2.5/5 (Just for buffet, not a la carte)
They served cream of veg soup, which was good but there was no non-veg option in soup! Had to deduct a point there.
Then we were served veg starters ( at first I thought they didn't have non-veg starters either.. because they kept refilling veg ones) :
Veg croquettes (just OK),
Corn tikki (was under-cooked! We told about it to the manager there, he tasted one and thought it was fine!!! Nevertheless, he politely offered to replace the plate. But the next ones were just about the same way, a bit more brown),
Aachari aloo (kinda like veg chicken tikka, not bad)
At last he served just 1 platter (but heaped) of non veg starters : Murg Lasooni and Murg paprika. Both were well done, tender, aromatic and tasted great.
Sprout salad looked out of place in this menu and it didnt taste any better.
Veg pasta was good and creamy but its sauce tasted like the soup we had.
Main course : Big big disappointment!!
Veg - Khade masale ka paneer (only 1 veg main course)
Non veg - Bagiche ka murg, Murg matka - Neither of them were good or even average. They could've used some more garlic. It was tasteless!
Naan/Roti, Daal, Pees pulav were alright.
Best part was dessert. The Gajar ka halwa was amazing! Hats off to the chef! Vanilla ice cream was another thing for dessert.
I'll still visit back to taste the a la carte menu since people have raved about it.
