I am not a very big fan of the south indian food, but heard a lot about this place and decided to visit there. And since then I have visited this place twice in one month. One thing for sure, you never find this place empty. I have waited in queue for breakfast at 9AM also :).
Well before visiting this place I thought that the south indian menu is always filled of dosas and idly , but looking at the menu I was astonished to see so much of variety and hence we ordered a lot of food which was too much for two.
Food: Dosas and uttapams are awesome, you can count on these if you cannot decide what to eat. I really liked the fried idly. If you like coffee, do try filter coffee of this place and if you like milkshakes then you should definitely try the Sitafal Shake they serve here.
Ambiance: Its just like a normal dining hall with too much of crowd.
Service: Very quick and amazing , the way they carry ten plates of Dosas in one tray in one hand and cups of tea in other tray in other hand is great.
Probably one of the best restaurants, where you just pay for the food you are having. A must go place for south indian lovers in pune.
Undoubtedly, one of the most famous south indian restaurants. I love the idli vada and cheese masala dosa there. The staff is always helping the customers find a place to sit. Good service too. I definitely find this place a little too over priced. Overall, a nice place to eat at, esp if one plans to have breakfast outside.
Officially the most every hyped restaurant in the city. They have been given the best south indian restaurant in pune but i still doubt the selection made by the jury.
The ambiance is pretty good but then you have to wait for long hours just to bag a seat and sit .
Idli plate will cost you like 50 bucks for 2 small idlis , teaspoon of sambhar and chatni definitely not worth . Previously their menu didn't covered all the varieties that a south indian restaurant should cover.
I am still curious why people like to go here there are many many restaurant offering good south indies food .
Though if ever you went to this place and felt being let down try ordering Cheese Chilli Toast the only good dish you would find over there.
I wonder how Candu and other senior staff members remember faces (in the crowd waiting on the steps of sheetal) who has come in which order and give them place to sit!!! Always in order.
First visited two decades ago. The taste is typical consistent and same.
First preference for early morning breakfast upma and filter coffee.
Dosa. Idli. Wada. Batata wada. Sandwiches. Piazza ++
Bhel. Spdp etc only evening time.
Plus... taste. quality
Minus... crowd. waiting time
Finally...there is only one vaishali
Well , this is my all time favourite south indian eatery!
I visit this place almost every weekend . And each time it doesnt fail to impress me. Dosas and idlis are the best things available here. To be specific try out the Mysore mala dosa if you have not before. It is addictive. The sambar and the crispy dosa is a lethal combination which makes you come here again and again.
All the idli, wadas and uttapas taste awesome.
Other good famous thing here is the SPDP. Also the cold coffee is worth a try.
This place is always too crowdy so better be prepared for rush and waiting, and dont expect good ambience. The service is good.
Ambience - 3.5
Taste - 4.5
Service - 4.5
