Awesome. Love the food, the service is super good. Be expected to wait as it always has a long lineup. But worth to wait.

Din Tai Fung is famous for their Xiao Long Bao (the Shanghai style dumplings that seal the soup inside), and their reputation is well deserved. The original restaurant opens at 10 and is filled by 10:15 on weekends. The new restaurant behind it opens at 10:30, but that side fills up quickly as well. It gets packed early for a good reason, specifically that their mini-dumplings are their best dish but are usually sold out by 11. Arcadia is a long drive from Culver City and involves going through downtown and half the San Gabriel Valley and it numerous other places on the way to stop for dim sum, but Din Tai Fung is worth the drive when you're in the mood. The delicateness of the wrapping and the flavor of the filling make Din Tai Fung among the best xiao long bao places anywhere.

World Famous Dumplings. One of the nice things about living in SoCal is that you can find authentic food from all over the world cooked primarily for that ethnic community. Din Tai Fung fits this model. The food is great, but if you are not familiar with the Chinese standard of restaurant operations, you will not have a good meal. It starts with the cattle style wait. You get a number, you wait with sometimes 40 other tables. There are no reservations. When you are finally seated, it is obvious that the MO of the service is to get you out as soon as possible. They have never heard of relaxed dining, they run at the same high speed no matter what, remember you are a number, not a person, your preferences don't figure in anywhere. Not your typical dim sum. This is not dim sum. It's dumplings. But they make the best dumplings around. The mini pork dumplings are worth the early trips on weekends. Stick with the traditional pork dumplings. The pork and vegetable dumplings are also great. Don't forget the red bean dumplings for dessert!
