Disappointed and disgusted!Service like I have never experienced before!
I made my reservations a month in advance, I received my email confirmation, I then called back two weeks later (2 weeks before my reservation) to add 3 more guest, also received that confirmation. Everything seemed to be great and dandy...until I got there.
Hostess didn't seem to want to be there, very distance, and no smile. My reservations were at 530p, I arrived at 520p. Two of my guest were around the corner at 540p when the hostess or waitress (wasn't sure who she was) came to tell me that if my guest don't arrive in the next five minutes they will have to give up my table.
First, I apologized and told her I wasn't made aware of that hard cut off time, but my guest should be arriving any minute they are waiting for valet. When they finally arrived right on target (544p), she told me that they have already given up my table! I asked to who? (people who just walk in with no reservations apparently!) I was 10 minutes early, someone could have told me when I called twice to make the reservation and second time to add additional guest. No one said anything to me when I checked in 10 minutes early and was told to wait at the bar for the rest of my guest. Nothing was sent or said in both email confirmations. Waitress didn't seem to care and instead said "thats our policy and unfortunately we don't seat incomplete tables" an shrugged her shoulders. I asked to speak to a manager. I explained to the manager the situation and the fact that nothing was said to me about a 15 minute cut off and how could they give my table away when I was already checked in and literally waiting on their slow valet service that now seemed to have cost me my table! Manager simply stated "we can have another table ready for you at our sister restaurant"
This place (which I don't even know the name of) was two blocks away! He made us walk over (and mind you, everybody in my family had heels on! We did valet for a reason! HELLO!!)
The entire walk over I felt degraded, I felt stupid, and not to mention cold!! I mean I made this reservation a month in advance and even called back to add guest AND received two confirmation emails and yet no one said anything about a hard cut off until I had 5 minutes left?!
I'm sorry but that is completely and utterly unprofessional. I made the reservation for my birthday, for the experience, but I left with a bad taste in my mouth for this place. Never again Chicago Cut!
AND to make matters worse, the food was terrible! Ive have better steak at Kenzie ChopHouse where the waiters and waitress actually know the types of cuts they have!!
I ordered a NY strip medium rare and the steak was so dry I needed to eat it with some type of sauce (I never eat my medium rare steak with a sauce if the juices are still there, which they should be!)
I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a great steakhouse in Chicago. Kenzie Chophouse is much much better than this place!

For a guaranteed awesome meal/steak, this is the place. When people are visiting from out of town, we always suggest this restaurant because it is always, consistently delicious. Great wine list too, we always order a cab. KN and I split a crab cake and a beet salad and then each had a filet and shared the mashed. We had a table outside along the river which is fabulous for watching boats, kayakers and sightseers.

Great steaks and certainly a cool place to be right on the river. Love the wine list and especially the use of iPads that we were supposed to be seeing everywhere by now. Professional staff that knows their stuff, it's no wonder this place is always on the "top 10 steakhouses" list every year.

My husband and I have visited quite a few of the great steakhouses in Chicago and can now add Chicago Cut to that list. As with most of the heavy hitters in town, the service, atmosphere, and quality at Chicago Cut is top notch and there really isn't much I can fault them for. I had a filet with the cajun seasoning that was cooked to perfection and very tasty. The cajun seasoning was definitely spicy so watch out if you can't take the heat. My husband's bone-in ribeye was very, very good...love the extra flavor that a little marbling adds! For sides we had a the truffle potatoes and grilled asparagus. Even though the truffle potatoes were very good I was just expecting a little more. For a birthday dessert they brought out a chocolate layer cake covered in chocolate ganache and it was just as decadent as it sounds. Personally I prefer some of the other steakhouses we've visited over Chicago Cut, but if you're looking for a meal with a great view this would be a great spot to choose.

AVOID. This was literally the worst experience I have ever had at any restaurant. I only gave 1 star in every category because I was required to. My husband and I go to a lot of restaurants in Chicago and always go to a steakhouse for a special occasion. On this particular occasion, we were out celebrating his birthday. When we arrived, we were seated at a two person table that was touching the server computer station. The servers were touching my husband as they stood over him to enter orders on the computer screen. Our server didn't even make eye contact with us or introduce himself as he threw their iPad acting as their wine list at us.
When I asked the hostesses if there was a different table we could be moved to she simply said they didn't have any other tables. She made no attempt to offer any alternative solutions or try to solve the problem. We were so uncomfortable that we just left and honestly, they couldn't have cared less. We were not asking to be treated like the celebrities the restaurant usually serves. All we were expecting was a special evening with good food and Chicago Cut ruined what should have been a wonderful evening.
The bottom line is this - Chicago Cut doesn't care about treating their customers well. They care about making money. I would never recommend this restaurant under any circumstance.

Lightsabers, Scotch and Happiness. So, a day trip to Chicago. Early train, a little rocking and bouncing sleep, just enough breakfast to not want to eat my own hair.
Chicago is, for me, about food. There are a lot of reasons to visit, but food is the top of the list. There are so many good places to eat, and today I picked Chicago Cut. Google brought me here, and now I owe Google a beer.
I started with scotch and the Lobsterscargot. This was a brilliant idea, and you should emulate brilliance. Lobsters, I'm told, mate for life, spending their entire existence with their mate. Homewrecking has never been better. I can't tell you all the ingredients that went in the Lobsterscargot. I can't even tell you one other than lobster, because when I took the first bite my brain stopped. Just quit. Life became only my tongue and my appetizer and my scotch.
I finished quickly, probably more quickly than I should have to truly appreciate the dish, but I maintain that having my tongue constantly coated in cheesy, buttery lobster was more important than deep analysis.
My main course was recommended by my waiter, Danny M. Danny was amazing, even stopping to ask why I was in town (taking grandma to the airport, which is unimportant beyond the fact that Danny remembered this and told me to let my grandma know he has her back) despite having obviously a lot to do what with it being the middle of peak lunch time.
Danny recommended the Bone-in Ribeye.
A guy a few tables away from me was having lunch with a few friends. He ordered some kind of cocktail, and his main course was a salad. Don't order that. Seriously. It's called Chicago Cut Steakhouse, not Chicago Cut Saladhouse. If you want a salad, go somewhere else. Like Wendy's.
If, on the other hand, you want a steak that tastes like it was killed with a lightsaber and grilled on the flaming bosom of a virgin supermodel, go to Chicago Cut, and order the Bone-in Ribeye.
You'll thank me.
Neither Danny nor the menu mentioned how many ounces the Bone-in Ribeye weighs, because Danny is a benevolent god, and only wants you to have a good lunch. Not feel guilty about how much you're eating.
I got whipped potatoes with my Bone-in Ribeye (I'm relatively certain this does not require capitalization from a grammatical standpoint, but also know that from a meatness standpoint, it has earned it) and they were outstanding. Smooth, creamy, and a perfect balance to my Lightsaber Bosom Bone-in Ribeye.
Go here. Eat. Thank me later.

Great Experience. The food was excellent and the portions we're very generous, for a party of five each getting a soup or salad to start, 2 entrées & five sides was way too much food, 3 sides for five people wold have been plenty. The service was also some of the best I have ever recieved. Though very pricy the food & service were well worth the cost.
