I absolutely love peking duck... who wouldn't? Its so greasy, crispy... yummy. Was in Washington DC for a short tour, and found this place online listed as "best" peking duck location. It was quite a drive from the city, but it was on my wishlist, so I had to go. The outside of the restaurant appeared shabby and a bit sad. Inside décor old, cozy. Décor is mostly filled with photos of famous/popular people that have visited the restaurant. Peking duck was PRICEY, and comparing to all the peking duck places I have eaten at, its mediocre. Excellent waiter service, and it was really cute how the waiter stood around to ensure my dining table knew how to eat peking duck. Haha.

May be authentic, popular and been visited by Presidents...but that doesn't make it good. Visited while in town and the food just didn't taste good to us - maybe it was an off night but it made us all rather sick. The egg rolls had the consistency of a burrito, the dumplings were bready but ok and the chicken dishes seemed under cooked - crispy chicken was soft (the opposite of crispy). The staff seems rather impressed with their history and the pictures of famous political figures on their walls and were unapologetic for messing up our order. Food is very expensive and just not that tasty. As a DC native - I always find it funny that when a political figure goes to a restaurant how it becomes popular even if it isn't that great. I think I'll find another less popular Chinese restaurant in the area that actually serves good food with more reasonable prices - with all the choices in this area that shouldn't be too hard to find. So, in the spirit of American Independence, don't take guidance from politicians on good food and restaurants....leave that to your taste buds and your wallet.

What we really liked was the Gourmet Pan-Fried noodles. The noodles were fat, long, and meaty-textured ("long noodle, long life"). They had little char marks from the pan. Generous portion of meats with big shrimp morsels. Highly recommended.
One of the best waiters I have ever encountered. The staff brought me birthday cake and sang Happy Birthday in Chinese. Definitely going back again.

The huge Jo-Jen shrimp and Peking Duck are not to be missed. (They'll try to sell you cucumbers with the duck, you can skip 'em.) They have superb Hot and Sour soup, and the Szechuan Beef PROPER (not to be confused with regular Szechuan Beef) is a crispy, deep fried treat that's become a bit too sweet - it could use a little toning down.
Truly a great restaurant.

I ordered Peking Duck and had the most wonderful meal. A full duck ($39) is brought to the table and expertly prepared in front of you: crispy skin set on one side of the plate, layer of fat underneath carefully removed from the meat and discarded, then the juicy meat neatly sliced thin and placed alongside the skin. Served with cucumber, spring onion, hoisin sauce and perfect thin pancakes, it was absolutely wonderful.
With drinks and tea, it made a gigantic feed for $50. By the way, this is supposed to serve many more than just one guest, see the photos.
They told me they go through 1,500 ducks a week, no surprise because I’m coming back next week.
