A hidden gem! At first g.... A hidden gem!
At first glance, Mimi's appears to be the typical NYC pizza shop: a bit run down, hidden away and full of staff that barely speaks English. However, walk in, and you're greeted by a big friendly Italian manager. You'll get super quick and super helpful service that's tolerant of tourists. Locals dart in and out all the time, and the pie is always moving, even on the weekends, so you know it's a safe bet!
I'm from the south, so I don't know my NYC Pizza like a true local, but I've had my share of city pie. Take one bite of Mimi's, and you get that true to form, classic taste... Full of city water, and baked to perfection. Crust is nice and thin, not overdone, and has plenty of flavor. Their mozzarella is the best as well, fresh buffalo, melting in big, mouth watering chunks all over the pie's surface.
Haven't done the sit down, but I bet it's good, as the staff is super friendly! If you're in the area and need a quick bite, you can't miss with this one!
