Red Rooster is known for its nice and joyful environment and live music. Some nights it's too crowded to even get in (I haven't even tried to have dinner) because of the great musicians they have, so I would say it's a good place for having a drink, not a dinner.

It is, though, a nice place for brunch! If you want to have a meal there, brunch/lunch would be a better idea. I went there on a Sunday and the live music was good (not too loud, like at dinner) and the environment was so nice. It is hard to get a table - they told us we would have to wait 1h, but it ended up being 40min "only". You can wait while having a drink and listening to the musicians.

The service was a bit slow, but always friendly. The food was also good. The Mimosa wasn't extraordinary and I found it overpriced. We had Cornbread, Harlem Flatbread (which was like a weird "pizza" with a fried egg on top of it) and an overpriced 3 - Egg Omelette - I'm glad we... read more

Beautiful place just in the heart of Harlem. Beautiful decor, people and wonderful vibe where you are hosted by everyone with a smile always on their face. We went for a late lunch and a few drinks. More than for the food, which was good ( had the "real" cornbread), you must go there to feel the vibe of this place and of this neighborhood. Thumbs up!

Pretty great fried chicken but overpriced for what it is. The restaurant layout was basic & tasteful. The collared greens were good too. Maybe just a bit over-hyped but it's worth a visit.

Yep that was worth it. Met Marcus himself which is always cool when someone famous-ish is actually at their place. We had many great dishes. Don't miss the Brussel Sprouts. And one suggestion to the chef. When two people order deviled eggs don't bring three halves, could have been a rare 5 review. I'll be back

It was okay. I was expecting southern cuisine, they tried it. I ordered the Mac-and-cheese...I've had better. My date ordered the chicken and waffles, once again they tried it and I've had better. However, I will say that the chicken and waffles was better than the Mac-and-cheese.

The Red Rooster is listed as Southern --well, it's not your mama's Southern! Went with friends--we shared a side of corn bread with tomato jam and the Mac and Cheese--delish! I had the meatballs, cabbage and mashed potatoes. I was told it was the chef's favorite dish. It was almost "Nuevo-meatloaf-esque". (Is that a word?)--they were fabulous! Our table also ordered the yard bird and the shrimp and grits--I'm from the Caroline's--sorry but the shrimp and grits were just "ok". We finished with the pickled peach cobbler--can't go wrong here!

Loved it!! My table shared the Whole Fried Chicken, Mac n Greens and Waffles. I then also ordered a side of parmesean fries...Yes a CARB FEST!! It was oh so good. That chicken, not sure how they got it to be so juicy on the inside with the right amount of crispy on the outside. Who would have ever thought that Mac n Greens would go together, I sure didn't, but I loved them. The waffles were great and so were the fries. Our server, J, was the absolute best. She was sooo patient with us and went over the whole menu in detail. I left her a glowing review on the comment card. I'm a fan of visiting restaurants of Top Chefs and this one did not disappoint.

Amazing!!! This place is so good if you are looking for quality and delicious southern food. The mac and cheese and the cornbread are the best on the menu I think. For dessert definitely get the homemade doughnuts. If you can stay later for the live music too that's a plus.

Ordered Deviled Eggs, Kale Salad, Blackened Catfish and Fried Yardbird. The fried chicken was huge and it was good. I like the chicken better than the catfish.
Great food and service!!. As huge fans of Chopped my husband and I were excited to try Marcus Samuelson's restaurant The Red Rooster. Our server Tonia was wonderful and such an attentive server. We also had the opportunity to see some of our favorite Chopped judges enjoying brunch as well. Everything we ate was delicious and we left very satisfied with our brunch choice.
