While few places in the city resonate in my heart, you'll be happy to hear that Harry & Ida's is one of them- They hit the nail on the head with a resounding, satisfactory bang! As a result, they collect a 4.9/5.0 from us and we explain why...

The World Amigurumi Exhibition was taking place here. There's literally hundreds lined the walls, windows, ceilings (available for purchase). A cute cafe/art center in LIC makes for a compelling argument to visit any time of year 4.5/5.0
Strolled in one evening after a burger dinner at nearby Baroness. I was looking for a caffeinated pick-me-up. I always knew Resobox was here and made the mad dash over in the windy cold winter night for some matcha. The menu now includes food, which is a departure from the earlier days when all that was available were drinks and art. Good to know!
Upon browsing the menu, it was clear we were going to have a matcha good time. Lattes all around!...read more

The Baroness in Long Island City (known by many to be a burger haven) is the latest to introduce a new burger incarnation, one of only a few allowed to collaborate with The Bagel Store, dubbed The Last Unicorn Burger. Their cozy atmosphere, accessibility and friendly service did for the most part, lends itself to our 4.7/5.0 rating.

They say true genius often strikes in the pale moments between awake and asleep. I must have been sleepwalking all these years because I haven't truly had Korean-style ramen until today and the experience I had, by definition, was a culinary eye-opener. This brings us to why we feel mŏkbar is deserving of 4.8/5.0

Robicelli's takes the cupcake! Yes, I meant it in every sense of the word. They have (and still do via wholesale) some of the best cupcakes in the city, and most certainly all of Brooklyn. They're located in South Brooklyn and by that I mean Bay Ridge. While I've been into their bakery often in 2014-2015, I've always found myself gravitating to their cupcakes, for good reason. 4.5/5.0(Note: retail portion is now closed - it's now a commissary/commercial kitchen)

La Goulette, affectionately named after the port of Tunis, the Tunisian capital, I had the opportunity to enjoy a fantastic meal from true hard working Tunisian brothers there, (They're originally from Bay Ridge, Brooklyn). Great Tunisian food is hard to find as you can find Mediterranean just about any borough in NYC, but to have it done up perfectly in a fast, but casual setting without seeming cheap? Very slim... They get it right. 4.5/5.0

I was invited to join in on the (monthly) Donuts and DJs event. Little did I know, I ran into many friends who were there to support the event and the family's endeavour. Fantastic donuts and a unique venue give rise to my 4.8/5.0 rating. While I have yet to have lunch or dinner at Manila Social Club (MSC) before, thanks to friends who have stopped in for brunch, they have nothing but praise for the food and the chef. MSC stands amid a sea of eclectic eateries in Billyburg but they do something uniquely special.

Bagatelle, from the Italian word bagattella, meaning 'a trifle', many refer to the extravagant party thrown in Louis XVI's honor, which we're sure this restaurant was founded upon. The NYC flagship location (Las Vegas, Miami are also worth mentioning) is centered in the heart of Meatpacking District (MePa) and widely known for their over-the-top champagne brunches and vibrant nightclub atmosphere. However, it's the menu that often goes overlooked by many when they dine and we give you the scoop, perhaps befitting the our own tagline.

River Dock Café is a neighborhood gem, and found within the Saint George Ferry Terminal on Staten Island. While some restaurants try to be all things to all people, River Dock doesn't pull any punches- They excel at what they're known for, and that's seafood. However, it is also more than a seafood restaurant and we explain why we believe they're worthy of 4.8/5.0

12 Corner's latest outpost extends into Chinatown, 121 Mott St. replacing the outgoing beleaguered Orange Teahouse. Time will tell how they fare against the glut of Chinese coffee shops and bakeries in Chinatown but one thing is clear, service and premium coffee drinks you've come to expect from the sister shop on East Broadway are here as well.
