Not a pizza fan but on this SF trip, I got to try both Delfina and Una. Where Una's margherita was soft and chewy, Delfina's was more the crusty type. Both equally nice, just in a different way. Delfina is prob the more typical style.

I apologize as a recent New Yorker, but I don't get what the hype is about here. It was just too high of a not-so-flavorful crust to sauce/topping ratio.

You know what was good? The arancini. I could eat a million of those.

We also got a salad (unremarkable) and pickled cucumbers (good but nothing special).

Service was fine. Waits are long and they put up with accommodating the throngs. We sat outside under a heat lamp - I recommend that!

Outrageous Food. Had two different Pizzas with the kids some sodas and Wine for Dad (they are hard to please). They said its the best they ever had. Amazing ambiance. Definitely a place to go to.

Delightful meal. In town for but three days, my travelling cohort and I knew we must visit this much hyped pizza joint. Despite the limited seating available at the restaurant, we were fortunate enough to get a table for five with no wait time at 6.30 pm on a week night.

The staff were courteous and helpful, offering insightful suggestions from the wine list as well as clearing up some of our uncertainties relating to pizza ingredients. I personally had one of the days specials, a lamb sausage pizza with ricotta, dandelion greens, pecorino and tomato. My dining acquaintances collectively had a broccoli raab pizza, a napoletana (anchovies and capers) pizza, a prosciutto pizza and a roasted/honeyed carrot side.

I managed to snag a taste of all these dishes, and was thoroughly impressed by the high standards across the board. The lamb sausage pizza was the standout in my opinion, with the perfect amount of ingredients to satisfy my taste buds without... read more

Mediocre and not worth the price. It shouldn't be hard to find something on the menu that's not spicy, right? It's Italian - hot spice is not universal. You'd be largely wrong, though. We avoided dishes that listed spicy ingredients, and ended up with... something that had spicy ingredients anyway. Turns out lots of dishes don't mention it, but have it anyway. (We avoided a veggie dish that also didn't list spice when our waiter informed us that it did have hot peppers, and no, it couldn't be made without them.) Then when I ordered a margherita pizza as a non-spicy alternative, it came with four small whole basil leaves. This is a pizza with six fairly large slices. So at Delfina, apparently "margherita" means "cheese pizza".

It doesn't look expensive, until you realize that the portions and quality really, really don't support the prices. I've had better pizza from a box in the freezer.

Long waits for table. But the pizza is great. The Neapolitan pizza is incredible and the margarita was great. The clams pizza is mediocre. We saw a lot of people ordering the broccoli pizza but we didn't try it. That also looked great. There is limited seating and the place gets packed. So be prepared to wait and probably sit outside

Best Italian in SF. Fantastic food in the trendy neighbourhood of the Mission. Service was very smart and friendly.

Hybrid Pie Tops Other Neapolitans. Hipster neighborhood, nice wine list, and overall great vibe here. More importantly, Delfina begins with a Neapolitan-style crust but improves it substantially by magically giving it a New York crispness to accompany the puffy charred blistery bubbles of Neapolitan pizza. The result is all the flavor of Naples pizza, but no soft, floppy, wet, soggy, soupy center.
